(PILGRIMAGE)

HAJJ

Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, is a pilgrimage undertaken to the holy city of Makkah during the month of Zul-Ḥijjah. The date of hajj in Islamic calendar begins on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah and lasts until the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. This profound journey, marked by its challenges, is an obligatory endeavour for financially and physically capable Muslims.

It involves completing the designated rituals. Those who successfully accomplish this voyage earn the esteemed title of Ḥaji. Every year, millions of Muslims gathered in Makkah for Hajj festival – the sacred Muslim Pilgrimage annually, underscoring the unity of humanity and their equal devotion before Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ.

A Significant Religious Gathering

As a fundamental and 5th pillar of Islam, Hajj holds immense significance as an act of worship. Every year, multitudes of Muslims wear simple and identical attire, transcending differences in colour and race, setting aside discord to assemble in the sanctified precincts of the Haram. The world stands amazed at this extraordinary display of harmony.

This juncture bestows unparalleled blessings upon the pilgrims, endowing them with Allah’s عَزَّوَجَلَّ special favour. The gifts bestowed upon these fortunate individuals in return for their Hajj experience arises a profound longing amongst less privileged Muslims, igniting a fervent aspiration to embark on a sacred journey of their own.

Hajj, the sacred pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah, holds profound benefits that extend beyond the physical journey. The spiritual benefits of Hajj are manifold, as it offers a unique opportunity for Muslims to cleanse their souls and seek forgiveness for their past transgressions. The act of performing Hajj is a demonstration of devotion and submission to Allah’s will, emphasizing the importance of humility and unity among believers.

The importance of Hajj in Quran and Hadith is underscored, with verses highlighting its pivotal role in the spiritual growth and development of a Muslim. The Quran and Hadith stress the transformative power of Hajj, emphasizing its ability to purify the heart and renew one’s faith. The rituals performed during Hajj symbolize the trials and tribulations faced by the Prophet Ibrahim علیہ السلام and his family, exemplifying the unwavering trust in Allah’s providence.

Consequently, the importance of Hajj resonates deeply within the Islamic tradition, serving as a means of drawing closer to Allah, seeking forgiveness, and fostering a sense of communal harmony among Muslims from diverse backgrounds.

Types of Hajj

There are three types of Pilgrimage in Islam:

1. Qiran

2. Tamattu

3. Ifrad

1. Qiran

This is the most favoured form of Hajj, termed as Qiran. Those embarking on this Hajj are referred to as Qarin. In this type, the pilgrim declares the intention for both Hajj and Umrah simultaneously upon entering the state of Ihram.

Intention of Hajj Qiran

The Qarin is required to formulate the intention for both Hajj and Umrah using the subsequent wording:

“Ya Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ! I make the intention of Hajj and Umrah, make both of them easy for me and accept them from me. I have made the intention of Hajj and Umrah and have put on the Ihram of both just for the sake of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ.”

2. Tamat’u

A pilgrim undertaking this form of Hajj is known as a Mutamat’e. Those arriving from beyond the Miqat during the Hajj months are eligible to perform this type. For instance, individuals from the Indo-Pak region commonly opt for Tamat’u. The advantage lies in the fact that a Mutamat’e, having completed Umrah, is permitted to undergo Halq or Qasr and thereby exit the state of Ihram. Subsequently, on the 8th of Zul-Hijjah or earlier, the pilgrim assumes the Hajj Ihram.

3. Ifrad

The individual undertaking this variation of Hajj is referred to as a Mufrid. This category of Hajj solely involves assuming the Ihram for Hajj without incorporating Umrah. Those residing within Makkah and Hilli, essentially the region between the Haram area and Miqat (such as the inhabitants of Jeddah), opt for Hajj Ifrad. This type is also open to individuals arriving from foreign nations.

Intention of Hajj

After putting on the Ihrm of Hajj, the Mufrid should make the following intention. Similarly, after putting on Ihram, the Mutamat’e’ should also make the following intention on 8th Zul-Hijjah or before it.

“Ya Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ! I make the intention of Hajj, make it easy for me and accept it from me. Help me in offering it and make it blessed for me. I have made the intention for Hajj and have worn its Ihram for the sake of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ.”

The Privilege of Hajj Tawaf in the rain along with Holy Prophet ﷺ

What a magnificent experience it is to engage in Tawaf while being blessed by rain! Sayyiduna Abu Iqaal رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ has expressed: “I was once privileged to perform Tawaf with Sayyiduna Anas Bin Malik رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ in the rain. After we offered two Rakat Salah at Maqaam Ibrahim.” Sayyiduna Anas رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ said to me, “Start your deeds afresh. Indeed, your previous sins have been forgiven. The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم gave the same good news to us and we were privileged to perform Tawaf with him in the rain.” (Ibn Majah, vol. 3, pp. 524, Hadees 3118)

Rewards & Blessings of an Accepted Pilgrimage

The sacred ahadith about hajj elaborates the hajj significance and merits of Hajj-e-Mabroor.

1. The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has conveyed: “The reward of an accepted Hajj is not less than Paradise.” It was humbly asked, “What is meant by Maqbool (accepted)?” It was replied, “The Hajj in which food is given and good conversation is made.” (Al-Mujam-ul-Awsat, vol. 6, pp. 173, Hadees 8405)

2. Furthermore, The Prophet of Mercy صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: “The reward for an accepted Hajj is Paradise.” The blessed companions humbly asked, “Ya Rasoolallah صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! What is an accepted Hajj?” It was replied, “The Hajj in which the hungry are fed and Salam is to be promoted.” (Kanz-ul-Ummal, vol. 3, pp. 7, Hadees 11830)

Indications of an Accepted Hajj

Hujjat-ul-Islam, Imam Muhammad Ghazali رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has expressed: It is narrated, “One of the signs of an accepted Hajj is that a Haji gives up all those acts of disobedience that he was indulged in the past, he quits the company of bad friends and keeps the company of pious people, he abandons the gatherings of sports and entertainments, and attends the gatherings of Zikr and Fikr (contemplation) and the gatherings in which the Zikr of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ and His Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is done abundantly.” (Ihya-ul-Uloom, vol. 1, pp. 803)

Imam of Ahl us Sunnah, Maulana Shah Imam Ahmad Raza Khan رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه, famously known as Ala Hadrat, has stated: “The sign of a Hajj-e-Mabroor (an accepted Hajj) is that the Haji becomes better than before when he returns.” (Fatawa Razawiyyah, vol. 24, 467)

Mufti Muhammad Amjad Ali Azami رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه, a distinguished and prominent scholar of Shariah and Tareeqah, conveyed: “The Haji should take provisions more than his need so that he can help his fellow travellers and give Sadaqah (charity) to the poor. This is also a sign of an accepted Hajj.” (Bahar-e-Shariat, part 6, vol. 1, pp. 1051, slightly modified)

The revered Abdul Mustafa Azami رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه, a distinguished authority in Hadith studies, has expressed: “An accepted Hajj is a Hajj during which the Haji does not commit any sinful act, nor is there any doubt of showing-off nor fame, rather, good deeds are performed only for the pleasure of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ .” (Bihisht ki Kunjiyan, pp. 107, slightly modified)

Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه, a distinguished interpreter and a profound thinker of the Ummah, has also outlined indicators of an accepted Pilgrimage in various instances. He رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه mentioned:

· “An accepted Hajj is that Hajj which is free from quarrels, sins and showing-off and is performed correctly.” (Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 4, pp. 87)

· “An accepted Hajj is the Hajj that is performed after offering Salah etc.” (Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 4, pp. 146)

· “An accepted Hajj refers to a Hajj in which one abstains from sins or the Hajj in which one abstains from showing-off and fame or”

· “It is a Hajj, after which, the Haji abstains from sins till his death and does not perform any act that ruins his Hajj.”

· “Sayyiduna Hasan Basri رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has said: An accepted Hajj is such a Hajj, after which, the Haji desires the Hereafter and not the world.”

· “It is a Hajj that softens the heart of the Haji and he has sorrow in his heart and wetness in his eyes” (Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 5, pp. 441)

· “An accepted Hajj is one that is performed correctly with Halal earnings, that is performed with sincerity and the Haji does not perform any such act till his death that ruins his Hajj, that is, the reward of an accepted Hajj will not be only in the form of worldly food and forgiveness from sins or salvation from Hell or relief in torment, but Paradise must be granted.” (Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 4, pp. 96)

(ALMSGIVING)

Zakat

Zakat, stands as the third pillar of Islam and is obligatory for every financially capable Muslim whose income meets or exceeds the prescribed amount, in addition to their essential expenses.

Zakat is a fundamental pillar of Islam, representing the act of giving a portion of one’s wealth to those in need, aiming to promote social justice and compassion within the community. It serves as both a religious duty and a means of fostering solidarity among believers.

Meaning of Zakat

The literal meaning of Zakah is ‘Taharah [purity]’, and ‘increment and blessing’. Since, in reality, Zakah becomes a cause of Taharah, increment and blessing for the remaining wealth [although it may not be apparent], this is why it is called Zakah. (Durr-e-Mukhtar, Rad-dul-Muhtar, Kitab-uz-Zakah, vol. 3, pp. 203; summarised)

A Monetary Act of Worship

The purpose of Zakat is to ensure that wealth doesn’t only circulate among the rich, and needy individuals can fulfill their needs through Zakat. This fosters balance in society and gradually eradicates poverty. However, it is essential for the wealthy not to consider Zakat as a favor to the poor; rather, they are merely fulfilling their obligatory duty as commanded by the Allah Almighty.

The Messenger of Mercy and the Intercessor of the Ummah, صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, has emphasized these principles, stating, “The foundation of Islam is on five acts: To testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ and Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is His Rasool; to offer Salah; to pay Zakat; to perform Hajj; and to observe the Siyam [fasts] of Ramadan.” (Sahih Bukhari, vol. 1, pp. 14, Hadees 8)

In the mentioned Hadith, Zakat is highlighted as an act of worship placed after Salah. Zakat, being the 3rd pillar of Islam, involves a monetary form of worship. The Holy Quran praises those who pay Zakat and condemns those who do not in several blessed Ayahs. To fully appreciate the merits and advantages of giving Zakat and to avoid its potential harms, it is crucial to acquire a thorough understanding of the religious laws governing Zakat.

Significance of Zakat

The significance of Zakat becomes evident from the fact that Salah and Zakat are mentioned together 32 times in the Holy Quran (Rad-dul-Muhtar, Kitab-uz-Zakah, vol. 3, pp. 202). Additionally, the fortunate individuals who give Zakat receive abundant blessings and benefits in this world and the Hereafter (as mentioned in later pages of Rad-dul-Muhtar, Kitab-uz-Zakah, vol. 3).

Giving Zakat reflects a believer’s willingness to share their wealth and blessings with the less fortunate in society. It is not merely an act of charity but a divinely ordained duty, reminding Muslims of their responsibility towards the underprivileged members of their community.

Through Zakat, the wealthy members of society are reminded that their prosperity is a blessing from Allah, and they have a responsibility to use a portion of it to uplift the less fortunate and promote the overall welfare of society.

Types Of Zakat

There are two types of Zakat:

1. Zakat of wealth

2. Zakat of people (i.e., Sadaqa-tul-Fitr)

There are further two types of Zakat of wealth:

1. Zakat of gold and silver

2. Zakat of trade goods and livestock, and the Zakat of cultivated crops and fruits (i.e. ‘Ushr). (Derived from: Bida`i’-us-Sana`i’ fi Tarteeb-ish-Shara`i’, Kitab-uz-Zakah, vol. 2, pp. 75)

Rulings on Zakat

Zakat is a fundamental Islamic practice involving giving a portion (usually 2.5%) of one’s wealth to specific categories of individuals in need, as outlined in the Quran and Hadith. Obligatory for Muslims possessing a certain threshold of wealth (nisab), Zakat is calculated annually and requires a sincere intention. It’s distinct from Zakat al-Fitr, a separate form given during Ramadan’s end.

Zakat aims to promote social welfare and spiritual growth by sharing wealth with those less fortunate, with distribution generally encouraged within the local community. Variations in interpretation exist across Islamic schools of thought, necessitating consultation with knowledgeable sources to ensure proper adherence to Zakat guidelines.

Zakat – A Fard Obligation in Islam

The obligatory nature of Zakat is established through evidence from the Holy Quran and Sunnah. Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ has explicitly stated in the Holy Quran:

وَأَقِيمُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتُواْ الزَّكَاةَ

“And keep Salah (obligatory prayer) established and pay Zakat (obligatory charity).” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 1, Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 43)

In the Tafseer Khazain-ul-Irfan, Sayyid Muhammad Naeemuddin Muradabadi رحمتہ اللہ علیہ (who passed away in 1367 Hijri) explains that This Ayah is regarding Salah and Zakat being Fard.

خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِم

“O Beloved, take Zakat from their wealth, by which you may cleanse them and make them pure.” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 11, Surah At-Taubah, Ayah 103)

In Tafseer Khazain-ul-Irfan, Sayyid Muhammad Naeemuddin Muradabadi رحمتہ اللہ علیہ has explained that the word صدقہ (‘Sadaqah’) mentioned in the Ayah has various interpretations according to different Mufassireen (Quranic exegetes).

One opinion suggests that ‘Sadaqah’ was not Wajib and was given by the individuals mentioned in the previous Ayah as expiation. The second opinion is that this ‘Sadaqah’ refers to the Zakat that was compulsory upon them, and upon repentance, they attempted to pay it, leading Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ to command its collection. Imam Abu Bakr Raazi رحمتہ اللہ علیہ has given preference to the view that ‘Sadaqah’ refers to Zakat (as mentioned in Khaazin and Ahkam-ul-Quran).

Virtues & Benefits of Zakat in Islam

Let’s explore the wonderful virtues and benefits of Zakat in Islam. Zakat is not just about giving money to help others; it holds great spiritual and social rewards for both the giver and the receiver. By understanding the importance of Zakat, we can see how it brings blessings in this life and the life to come.

1. Zakat Completes One’s Iman

Paying Zakat is considered a means of completing one’s Iman, as stated by the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم: The completion of your Islam is that you pay Zakat of your wealth. (Attargheeb Wattarheeb, Kitab-us-Sadaqaat, vol. 1, pp. 301, Hadees 12) (At-Targhib wat-tarhib)

The Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: He who believes in Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and His Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, it is compulsory for him to pay Zakat of his wealth. (Al-Mujam-ul-Kabeer, vol. 12, pp. 324, Hadees 13561)

2. Mercy & Help for the Giver

The one who pays Zakat receives the mercy of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ. As mentioned in Surah Al-Araf: “And My Mercy encompasses all things, so I shall soon decree favors for those who fear and pay Zakat.” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 9, Surah Al-Araf, Ayah 156)

3. A Path to Taqwa and Asceticism

Zakat leads to the attainment of Taqwa. This is one of the signs of the Muttaqeen (pious people) mentioned in the Holy Quran. It is stated: “And spend in Our path from the sustenance We have bestowed (upon them).” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 1, Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 3)

4. The Roadmap to Success

The one who gives Zakat becomes counted among the successful, as the Holy Quran includes Zakat among the deeds of successful individuals. It is stated:

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ {المؤمنون/1}

الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ {المؤمنون/2}

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ اللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ {المؤمنون/3}

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَاةِ فَاعِلُونَ {المؤمنون/4}

“Undoubtedly, the believers reached their goals. Those who humble themselves in their Salah. And who do not incline towards vain talk. And who are active in the payment of Zakat.” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 18, Surah Al-Muminoon, Ayah 1-4)

5. Allah’s Support for the Zakat-Giver

The one who pays Zakat receives the help of Allah. It is stated: “And undoubtedly, Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ will definitely help the one who helps His religion. Indeed, Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is surely All Powerful, Ever Dominant. Those people that, if We give them control in the land, would keep Salah established and pay Zakat, and command virtue and forbid evil, and only for Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is the end of all matters.” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 17, Surah Al-Hajj, Ayah 40, 41)

6. In the Company of Goodness

Paying Zakat is among the characteristics of those who frequent the houses of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ, i.e., the Masajid. It is stated: “Only those uphold the Mosques of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ, who believe in Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and the Last Day and keep Salah established and pay Zakat and fear none except Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ; so, it is imminent that they will be amongst the people of guidance.” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 10, Surah At-Taubah, Ayah 18)

7. Blessings of Bringing Happiness to Islamic Brothers

By paying Zakat, the needs of poor Islamic brothers are met, and their hearts are filled with joy and contentment. This noble act of giving not only addresses their material needs but also provides them with a sense of hope and happiness. Through Zakat, a harmonious and caring society is built, where the less fortunate are supported, and the overall welfare and well-being of the community are upheld.

8. Exemplary Display of Brotherhood in Islam

Giving Zakat exemplifies the spirit of Islamic brotherhood, as it encourages a financially capable Muslim (Ghani-Muslim) to support his poor Islamic brother, allowing him to live with dignity in society. This act also safeguards the heart of the needy Muslim from negative emotions like ill-will and jealousy, as he recognizes his rightful share in the wealth of his Ghani Islamic brother.

Consequently, he prays for blessings in his brother’s life, wealth, and children. The Beloved Rasool َhas beautifully expressed this bond, stating, ‘Indeed, a Mu`min is like a building for a Mumin; one strengthens the other.’ (Sahih Bukhari, Kitab-us-Salah, vol. 1, pp. 181, Hadees 481)

9. Manifestation of The Saying of Rasoolullah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم

Zakat plays a vital role in strengthening the brotherhood among Muslims, fostering a sense of unity in the Islamic society. Through mutual assistance, Muslims exemplify the profound saying of their beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم: The example of mutual friendship, mercy, and affection of Muslims is like a body; when any part of the body is not well, the entire body joins [i.e., affected by] it in fever and sleeplessness. (Sahih Muslim, Kitab-ul-Birr, pp. 1396, Hadees 2586)

10. Purifies Your Wealth

Giving Zakat purifies wealth, as narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا that the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Give Zakat of your wealth as it is the one that purifies, it will purify you.” (Al-Musnad Imam Ahmad Bin Hanbal, vol. 4, pp. 274, Hadees 12397)

11. Embracing Positive Change

Giving Zakat is a transformative act that helps a person overcome negative attributes like greed and miserliness while fostering the positive quality of generosity. It instills a sense of compassion and empathy, leading to spiritual growth and a deeper connection with others. By using their resources to help the less fortunate, individuals find fulfillment and purpose in their lives, making Zakat a powerful tool for soul purification.

12. Zakat in Quran

The wealth of the Zakat giving person not only remains intact but also increases in both this world and the Hereafter. Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ has assured: “And whatever you spend in the path of Allah, He will give more in return. And He is The Best Provider.” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 22, Surah Saba, Ayah 39)

At another place, it is stated: “The example of those who spend their wealth on the path of Allah is similar to a grain which has sprouted seven ears (of wheat) and each ear contains a hundred grains, and Allah may increase this many a time for whomsoever He desires, and Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing. Those who spend their wealth in the path of Allah, and after spending they do not boast of their favour nor taunt; their reward is with their Lord; they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve.” [Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 3, Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 261, 262)

The Zakat-giving person should offer their Zakat wholeheartedly, firmly believing that Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ will grant them something even better in return. The beloved Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has affirmed, “Wealth does not decrease by giving Sadaqah.” (Al-Mujam-ul-Awsat, vol. 1, pp. 619, Hadees 2270)

13. Shielded from Harm

The one who gives Zakat finds protection from evil, as the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated, “He who has paid Zakat of his wealth, indeed, Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ has removed evil from him.” (Al-Mujam-ul-Awsat, vol. 1, pp. 431, Hadees 1579)

14. Safeguard of One’s Wealth

Giving Zakat acts as a safeguard for one’s wealth, as the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has advised, “Bring your wealth into strong fortresses by giving Zakat and treat your sick people with charity.” (Maraseel Abi Dawood ma Sunan Abi Dawood, pp. 8)

15. Allah Will Fulfil the Needs

Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ will meet the needs of those who give Zakat, as the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has conveyed, “He who fulfills the need of any person, Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ will fulfil his needs in the religion and the world.” (Sahih Muslim, Kitab-uz-Zikr wad-Dua, pp. 1447, Hadees 2699)

At another occasion, the Beloved Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has conveyed, “He who relieves the worldly suffering of any Muslim, Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ will remove the trouble of the Day of Judgement from him.” (Sunan-ut-Tirmizi, Kitab-ul-Hudood, vol. 3, pp. 115)

16. The Poor Makes Du’a

The poor prays for the Zakat giving person, and as a result, the mercy of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ descends upon them, and they receive the help of Allah. The Beloved Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has affirmed, “You receive the help of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and sustenance because of the blessing of the old and their Duas.” (Sahih Bukhari, Kitab-ul-Jihad, vol. 2, pp. 280, Hadees 2896)

8 Recipients of Zakat

Initially, the Quran outlined 8 categories of Zakat recipients, yet one group, those with inclinations towards Islam (مولَّفة القلوب), was later excluded based on the consensus of the Sahabah, resulting in seven remaining beneficiary groups for Zakat:

1. The poor (Fuqara)

2. Destitute people (Masakeen)

3. Zakat collectors

4. Slaves, to have them freed

5. Debtor

6. In the cause of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ

7. Travelers who do not possess wealth

Nonetheless, in contemporary times, the fourth group, pertaining to slaves, is no longer applicable.

(FASTING)

FASTING (Sawm)

The fourth pillar of Islam is Fasting (sawm). This requires Muslims to fast during the sacred month of Ramadan. Ramadan fasting rules are that every pubescent Muslim is obligated to observe fasting, refraining from food, drink, and sexual activity throughout the fasting hours.

The purpose of fasting in Ramadan in Islam is to enhance one’s piety and provide an opportunity to empathize with the hunger and hardship experienced by the less fortunate. It instills discipline, strengthens one’s devotion and religious commitment, fosters a deeper awareness of God and His favors, and serves as a method for seeking forgiveness.

Additionally, fasting serves as a beneficial exercise for the human body, as it allows us to cleanse our digestive system from the indulgence in unnecessary foods throughout the year. During the holy month of Ramadan, global markets often lower prices to support Muslims in their observance.

Blessings of Fasting

Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ has graciously granted us His immense blessing in the shape of Ramadan’s fasts, aiming for us to achieve righteousness and His contentment, as Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ states in Surah Al-Baqarah (part 2, verses 183-184):

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ {البقرة/183} أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ فَمَن كَانَ مِنكُم مَّرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ فَمَن تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرًا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّهُ وَأَن تَصُومُواْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ {البقرة/184}

“O those who believe! Fasting (sawm) has been made obligatory upon you as were made obligatory upon those before you, so that you may become pious. The days are counted. Then whosoever among you is ill or on a journey then same number of fasting in other days, and those who have no strength, should give in fine meal to a needy: then whosoever does better, then that is better for him, and fasting is better for you if you know.” [Kanz-ul-Iman (Translation of Quran)] (Part 2, Surah Baqarah, Ayah 183-184)

Fasting is Compulsory

Similar to Salah, the obligation of fasting during Ramadan is also Fard upon every accountable (male and female) Muslim who has attained puberty and is sane. It is stated in Durr-e-Mukhtar that the obligation of sawm was decreed on the 10th of Shaban, two years after the Hijrah. (Durr-e-Mukhtar ma Rad-dul-Muhtar, pp. 330, vol. 3)

Importance of Fasting in Islam

Numerous practices within Islam serve as moving reminders of faith-reviving historical events. The act of running between Safa and Marwah, for instance, takes us back to the footsteps of Sayyidatuna Hajirah رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا, who traversed between these two mountains seven times in search of sustenance for her son, Sayyiduna Ismail علیہ السلام. The significance of fasting in Islam is that Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ favored this deed and declared it Wajib for all those who perform Hajj and Umrah to imitate her in order to keep this act alive.

Likewise, during a span of Ramadan, the Noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم sequestered himself within the cave of Hira. There, he صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم refrained from daytime food, dedicating his hours to the worship of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ at night. To eternally observe this blessed practice of our Honored and Beloved Rasool صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ mandated fasting during the sacred month of Ramadan upon us.

Unseen Strength – A Testament of Deep Faith

Imagine a scorching day, where a fasting Muslim feels the intense heat and his throat and lips are parched from thirst. Even though he has access to water and food, his strong faith in Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ keeps him from even glancing at them. Despite his extreme hunger and thirst, he remains resolute in his belief. He understands that although he may appear unseen by others, Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ sees all of his actions.

This unwavering faith is a tangible result of his fasting. Unlike other acts of worship that involve visible physical actions, fasting is distinct. It’s a form of worship that remains hidden from others’ eyes. Only Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ is aware of it. Even if someone were to secretly eat, people would still consider them to be fasting. But this individual abstains from eating solely to please Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.

If it’s possible, encourage your children to start fasting from a young age. This way, they’ll become used to fasting by the time they reach puberty. Esteemed scholars رحمتہ اللہ علیہ have advised, “When children reach the age of ten and are healthy enough to fast, they should be made to fast in Ramadan. If they do not fast despite being healthy enough to do so, they should be strictly made to fast even by beating. If they break it, they will not be ordered to make up for it (do Qada), but if they break their Salah, they will be ordered to offer it again.” (Rad-dul-Muhtar, pp. 385, vol. 3)

Benefits of Fasting in Islam

1. Health Benefits of Fasting

Sayyiduna ‘Ali رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا shared that the Prophet of Mercy, the Intercessor of the Ummah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated, “Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ sent a revelation to one of the Prophets of Bani Israel commanding him to inform his Ummah that if anyone fasts a day for My pleasure, I will grant him good health and reward him greatly.” (Shuab-ul-Iman, pp. 412, vol. 3, Hadees 3923)

2. Prevents Illness

Fasting itself does not cause any illness. Instead, during Ramadan, people sometimes become sick due to consuming oily and fried foods during Sahari (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (breaking the fast). Additionally, many individuals eat various things throughout the night. Thus, it’s important to avoid excessive eating during Ramadan.

During Sahari, it’s advisable not to overindulge to the point of feeling overly full all day, which might diminish the experience of hunger and thirst. In reality, the essence of sawm lies in enduring these sensations.

3. Spiritual Benefits of Fasting

Sawm has spiritual advantages. It helps people control themselves and think more. It connects them with their inner self. They become more thoughtful and humble. Fasting also makes them feel peaceful inside and less interested in material things. This helps them grow spiritually and find more peace inside.

Quranic Verses & Hadith On Fasting

1. The Quranic verses on fasting states: “O those who believe! Fasting has been made obligatory upon you as were made obligatory upon those before you, so that you may become pious”. Fasting is a special gift of Allahعَزَّوَجَلَّ and it is mentioned several times regarding the importance of fasting in Quran.

2. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairahرَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْه shared that the Beloved and Blessed Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated, “For every act of piety, man is rewarded ten to seven hundred times more. Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ said except fasting, because fasting is for Me and I will give its reward Myself.”

3. Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّalso says, “Man refrains from satisfying his desires and eating food for My pleasure. There are two glad tidings for the man who fasts; one at the time of sunset and the other when he meets his Rab عَزَّ وَجَلَّ. Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّlikes the smell emanating from a fasting person’s mouth more than the fragrance of musk.” (Sahih Muslim, pp. 580, Hadees 1151)

4. There is another saying, “Roza is a shield; when any of you fast, he should neither utter words of indecency nor shout. If any one else abuses him or wants to fight him, he should say ‘I am fasting.” (Sahih Bukhari, pp. 624, vol. 1, Hadees 1894)

Fasting Rewards

Sayyiduna Kab-ul-Ahbarرَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْه stated, “On the Day of Judgement an announcement will be made, ‘Every man will reap what he sowed (he will be rewarded equal to his deeds) except the people of the Quran (scholars of the Quran) and those who fasted; they will be given immeasurable reward.” (Shuab-ul-Iman, pp. 413, vol. 3, Hadees 3928)

SALAH

Salah is the second pillar of Islam. The daily 5 prayers of Islam, symbolize a believer’s submission to Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and serve as a public display of their commitment to Islam. This pillar holds immense significance, ranking after the Shahada. It is through this regular practice that Muslims acknowledge their dependence on Allah and their need for spiritual nourishment, seeking guidance, and seeking forgiveness.

What is Salah in Islam? – The Second Pillar

The obligation to perform the 2nd pillar of Islam is one of the most emphasized duties in Islam. Muslims, regardless of their gender, are required to perform these prayers diligently and sincerely at their designated times.

Before each prayer, Muslims must perform ablution (Wudu), a mandatory act of washing. It is essential to perform ablution correctly. After this the major question that arises is “what are the times to pray in Islam” The five daily namaz are known as Fajar (before sunrise), Zohar (midday, after the sun’s highest point), Asr (evening), Maghrib (evening, after sunset), and Isha (night). It is crucial to observe the prayers at their specified times. Through these prayers, Muslim nurtures their connection with Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ, constantly remembers Him, and remains clear of sins.

The Quran and Hadiths mention numerous virtues of offering prayers and severe punishments for neglecting it. Therefore, the 9th verse of Surat al-Munafiqun in Para 28 states:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تُلْهِكُمْ أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَلَا أَوْلَادُكُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ فَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ {المنافقون/9}

“O believers! Let not your wealth or your children make you negligent from the remembrance of Allah and whoever does that, they are the losers.” (Kanzul Iman [Translation of Quran])

Sayyiduna Imam Muhammad bin Ahmad Zahabi رحمتہ اللہ علیہ narrates that the honourable Mufassirin state, “In this Holy Ayah, the remembrance of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ refers to the five daily Salah, therefore, the one who does not offer his salah at its specified time because of his preoccupation with his wealth (i.e. trading), cultivation and employment, goods and his children, is at loss.” (Kitab-ul-Kabair, p. 20)

Virtues of Salah

Salah is also a comprehensive spiritual exercise that carries numerous virtues and benefits. In the following list, we explore 25 virtues of Salah:

1. Salah is a means of pleasing Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.

2. Salah is the coolness of the eyes of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم

3. Salah is a Sunnah of the blessed Prophets صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم

4. Salah is a lamp in the dark grave.

5. Salah protects against punishment in the grave.

6. Salah is [a means of] shade from the sun on the Day of Judgement.

7. Salah brings ease on the Bridge of Siraat.

Upon Whom Is Salah Fard?

The five prayers are Fard every day upon every male and female Muslim who is sane and Baaligh (i.e., who has reached puberty according to the Islamic law). It is disbelief (Kufr) to deny that it is Fard.

Salah – The Luminous Path

The significance of salah in Islam is highlighted by its central role in the daily lives of Muslims. There’s an importance of namaz in Quran in numerous verses, underlining it as a means of communication with Allah and a way to attain spiritual growth and mindfulness. The act of praying involves physical postures coupled with recitations of verses from the Quran, fostering a sense of discipline, humility, and devotion. It is through Salah that Muslims seek forgiveness, guidance, and blessings, while also purifying their souls and elevating their spiritual consciousness.

First Question in Afterlife

Although Salah is the second pillar of Islam but the beloved and blessed Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “On the Day of Judgement, the very first question that will be asked to man out of his deeds will be about Salah; if his Salah is correct, he will succeed but if it is incomplete, he will be disgraced and will suffer loss.” (Al-Mu’jam-ulAwsat-lit-Tabrani, pp. 32, vol. 3, Hadis 3782)

Importance of Worship in Islam

Salah, also known as Namaz, holds profound significance in both the Quran and Hadith, forming a cornerstone of Islamic faith and practice. Through regular prayers, believers establish a deep connection and seek guidance and forgiveness.

Quranic Verses:

In verses 9,10 and 11 of Surah Mu’minoon, in the 18th Juz, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ states:

وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَوَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ {المؤمنون/9} أُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْوَارِثُونَ {المؤمنون/10} الَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ {المؤمنون/11}

“And those who guard their Salah. These people are the heirs. That (they) will attain the inheritance of Paradise; they will abide therein forever.”

In several places in the Holy Quran, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ has commanded Muslims to offer Salah. It is stated in verse 14 of Surah Ta-Ha, in the 16th Juz:

وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي {طه/14}

“And establish Salah for My remembrance.”

Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ states in the 5th Juz, in the 103rd verse of Surah al-Nisa:

إِنَّ الصَّلاَةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَابًا مَّوْقُوتًا {النساء/103}

“Indeed, Salah has been made obligatory upon the Muslims at fixed times.”

Ahadis:

The Honourable Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated:

“Salah is the light of a believer’s heart, face, grave, and resurrection,” (Sharh Muslim-lil-Nawawi, vol. 2, p. 101, derived from; Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 1, p. 232, derived from).

The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم further clarified who will attain the light of Salah and who will not:

“Whoever safeguards his Salah, for him on the Day of Judgement will be a light, an open proof, and protection. And he who does not safeguard his Salah will not have light, an open proof, or any protection, and he will be resurrected with Qaroon, Fir’awn, Haman, and ‘Ubay Bin Khalf,” (Musnad Ahmad, vol. 2, p. 574, Hadith 6587).

He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم added, “Glad tidings of a complete light be for those who walk to the masjid on foot, in darkness,” (Tirmizi, vol. 1, p. 261, Hadith 223).

Islamic Prayer – Nur for the Faithful

The Messenger of humanity, the serenity of our hearts and minds, the most benevolent and compassionate, صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, stated, “The one who secures his Salah, the Salah will be Nur, evidence and salvation for him on the day of judgement; and the one who does not protect it, there will be no Nur, evidence or salvation for him on the Day of Judgement and such a person will be kept with Pharaoh, Qarun, Haman and Ubay bin Khalaf on the day of judgement.” (Musnad Imam Ahmad, pp. 574, vol. 2, Hadis 6587)

Washes Away Sins – Benefits of Prayer

Sayyiduna Usman رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا narrates that the Messenger of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ said: “Do you think if any one of you had a river in their courtyard and they bathed it in five times each day, there would be any dirt left upon him?”

The people responded, saying, “There wouldn’t be.”

He then declared, “Salah washes away sins, the way water washes away dirt.”

Salah – A Purifying Practice

Prophet Isa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام once walked along a seashore and noticed a bird rolling back and forth in mud on the shoreline, completely covering its body. The bird then entered the sea, washed itself, and became clean. It repeated this action five times—rolling in mud and washing in the sea.

Prophet Isa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was amazed by this sight, and Archangel Jibrail عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام explained that “What you have been shown is an example of those from the Muhammadan ummah who offer Salah. This mud represents their sins and washing in the sea represents the five salah in Islam.”

In other words, just as the bird rolled in mud and cleansed itself, sinners from the ummah of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم will be purified of their sins through the practice of the five daily salah.

O believers in salah! Let us truly comprehend the profound importance of prayer in Islam, recognizing the great fortune we possess as Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ has made salah obligatory upon us. Through this act of worship in Islam, He bestows upon us immense rewards and forgiveness for our sins. How unfortunate is the person who fails to embrace this precious treasure from the mercy of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ!

(FAITH)

Shahada

The importance of faith in Islam becomes profoundly evident when we examine the core beliefs of this religion. Among the Five Pillars of Islam, the declaration of faith (Shahadah) holds a position of unparalleled significance. It is prohibited in Islam to compel someone into accepting the faith, as true acceptance must come from the heart. One has to sincerely testify and acknowledge the words of the shahada to become Muslim.

Shahada Meaning

The Shahada stands as the foremost and pivotal pillar of Islam. It represents the core belief and a sincere declaration of faith and trust in which a person acknowledges and affirms that:

لَا اِلٰہ اَلَّا اللہُ مُحَمَّدُ رَّسُول اللہ

The above written is the representation of shahada in Arabic which states:

“There is no God except Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ , Muhammad صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ is the Messenger of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.”

The meaning of Shahada in Islam is encapsulated in its two distinct parts. The first part means that “none is worthy to be worshipped but Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ alone, and that Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ has neither partner nor son”. The second part of the belief asserts that Muhammad “صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ is the last Messenger of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.”

Muslims believe in the finality of the Prophethood with the acceptance of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ as the “Last of all Prophets.” This belief signifies that His Prophethood confirms and completes all the messages revealed to earlier Prophets, starting from Prophet Adam عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام.

The Virtue of the Declaration of Shahada

Hazrat Ubada bin Samit رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ narrated about the virtue of the declaration of faith: I heard the Messenger of Allah صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ saying, ” If anyone testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah’s messenger, Allah will keep him from going to hell. ” (Mishkat al-Masabih, Kitab ul Iman, Chapter 3, Hadith: 36, Vol. 1, p. 28)

Sheikh Abdul Mustafa al-A’zami رحمۃُ اللہِ علیہ states in his famous book “Bahisht ki Kunjiyan”: “This is the foundational phrase of Islam upon which the entire structure of Islam stands. This phrase is undoubtedly not only a deed that leads to Paradise but also the essence and foundation of all righteous deeds that lead to Paradise.” (Bahisht ki Kunjiyan, p. 33, Maktabat al-Madina Publication)

Types Of the Descriptions of Faith

There are 2 types of the descriptions of faith:

1. Iman-e-Mujmal

“I solemnly declare my belief in Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ as He is with all His names and attributes, and I have accepted (to obey) all His commandments by pledging with my tongue and testifying them with my heart.”

2. Iman-e-Mufassal

“I believe in Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ, His Angels, His (revealed) Books, His Prophets, the Day of Judgment and (I believe that) good and bad destiny is from Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ and (I believe that) there will be resurrection after death.”

A. Faith in Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

To fully grasp the essence of Islam, it is essential to internalize the profound significance of Tawhid in Islam, the cornerstone of belief in the Oneness of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ. Moreover, this understanding should be accompanied by a sincere recognition of the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, completing the tapestry of faith in Islam.

Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ, is One, with no partners in His divinity, works, commandments, or names. He is ‘Waajib-ul-Wujood’, eternal (al-Qadeem) and everlasting (al-Baaqi). He alone deserves boundless praise and worship, while everything in the universe relies on Him.

B. Faith in Angels

Being a Muslim one should have a faith in Angels عَـلَيْهِمُ الـسَّـلَام of the Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ. Angels عَـلَيْهِمُ الـسَّـلَام are genderless, they neither eat, drink, marry, nor reproduce. They are made of light. Angels are Ma’soom i.e. they do not commit sins neither minor nor major.

C. Faith in the Books of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ

1. The Taurat (Torah) revealed to Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام.

2. The Zabur (Psalms) revealed to Prophet Dawood (David) عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام.

3. The Injeel (Bible) revealed to Prophet Isa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام.

4. The Glorious Quran revealed to our Beloved Prophet Sayyiduna Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, the Seal of the Prophets.

While all the words of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ are equally sacred, the Holy Quran holds a unique position as the most rewarding and significant among them.

D. Faith in Prophethood

In Islamic religious beliefs, it is crucial to understand and appreciate the virtues and qualities of the Prophets عَـلَيْهِمُ الـسَّـلَام. Having a sound knowledge of Prophethood in Islam helps in avoiding misconceptions and misleading beliefs, ensuring that one does not say anything that might degrade or disrespect the Prophets عَـلَيْهِمُ الـسَّـلَام.

i. Prophets علیھم السلام Were All Men

All the Prophets عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام, were men, chosen by Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ, to receive Divine Revelation for the guidance of humanity. They are also known as Apostles or Messengers of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ.

Out of immense kindness, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ sent the Prophets عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام to guide mankind. A Prophet is entrusted with receiving Divine Revelation (Wahi), whether conveyed by Angels or through other means.
