Excellence of reciting Salutations upon our Beloved Prophet ﷺ
The beloved and blessed Prophet ﷺ has said, that whoever sends a salutation upon me one time, Allah Almighty will shower mercy upon him ten times. (Sahih Muslim, Vol 1. pp. 175 Hadith 408)

Protection from the Jinns
The jinns will stay away from the one who recites بسم الله. It is stated that jinns use the belongings of the people such as clothes and other belongings, and one should say بسم الله when putting on clothes, and taking off clothes because reciting the name of Allah will be a seal for it. (In easier words, jinns will not get access to use the clothes). (Luqt-ul-Marjan, pp 98)

Virtue when reciting before Wudu
Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه has narrated that the Prophet of Mankind ﷺ has narrated: “Oh Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه)! When you make Wudu (Ablution), recite بسم الله والحمد لله, as your angels will continue to record virtues for you as long as your Wudu exists.” So just by saying بسم الله والحمد لله, for as long as you have Wudu established, the angels who record all your deeds will continue to write down virtues. We should all do this because this is an easy good deed, and an easy way to gain many virtues. (Tabarani Saghir, Vol 1, pp. 73, Hadith 186)

Poison became unharmful
There was once some fire worshippers who wanted to challenge a companion of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, and this companion is known as Khalid Bin Waleed رضي الله عنه. The fire worshippers said to him, “show us such a sign that will make the truthfulness of Islam evident to us”, So the companion of the Holy Prophet ﷺ asked for a deadly poison, and after the poison was brought to him, he then recited بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم and consumed the poison, and by the blessings of reciting بسم الله , this deadly poison caused him no harm. After the fire worshippers witnessed this take place, they immediately proclaimed that Islam is the truest religion. (Tafsir Kabeer, Vol 1, pp. 155)

How do Devils (Satan) get healthy?
There were two devils that met each other. One of them was strong and healthy while the other one was weak and feeble. The healthy devil asked the weaker one, ‘Brother! What has gotten you so weak?’ He then replied, ‘I am with such a pious person who recites بسم الله before entering his house, before eating and drinking anything, so I have to stay away from him. I see you are very healthy, so what is your secret?’ The healthy devil replied, ‘I am with such a heedless person who does not recite the phrase بسم الله before entering his house, or before eating and drinking anything, so I take part in all his activities and I keep riding him as one rides an animal, and this is the only secret of my good health.’ (Asrar-ul-Fatihah, pp. 155/Faizan-e-Sunnat, Vol 1, pp. 27)

Protection of your home
Imam Fakhruddin Razi عليه رحمة stated, ‘Whoever writes بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم on the main door of their house, he will have no fear of annihilation even if he is an unbeliever, so what is the extent of protection and blessings of a believer on whose heart the words of بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم remains engraved for his entire life!’ (Tafsir Kabeer, Vol 1, pp. 152)

Wisdom in its 19 letters
The number of letters in بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم are 19, which is also the number of the angels of hell who will give punishments to the sinners, but it is hoped that the punishment from each angel will be lifted by the blessings of every letter. Another excellence is that in a day, there are 24 hours, which 5 of them are devoted to the 5 daily prayers, and 19 of which are devoted to the letters in بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم, and thus, every hour of the one who keeps reciting this will be considered to have been spent in worship, and the sins of each hour will be forgiven. (Tafsir Kabeer, Vol 1, pp. 156)

In a Nutshell
There are many blessings and virtues of reciting the blessed Tasmiyah (بسم الله), one gets his wealth protected by the jinns and the devils, one gets his home protected from annihilation if Tasmiyah is written on the main door, and one’s appointed devil continues to get weaker and weaker each time Tasmiyah is recited from the person. We must all remember that the devil is our biggest enemy and the gateway to a bad afterlife, therefore, making him weak and feeble will make him be defeated in our fight between him, and then will result in us having a pleasant afterlife. Not following Satan is our only way to reach Paradise, and in Paradise, you will be able to meet the ones you love, you will be able to get whatever you desire in less than 1 millisecond, but in Hell, all you will be experiencing punishments after punishments after punishments. May Allah Almighty give us all the ability to ignore all of Satan’s tricks and to be strong in our religion of Islam, آمين يا رب العالمين

Gratitude, or “شكر” in Arabic, holds a special place in Islam. It is not merely a virtue, but a fundamental concept deeply ingrained in the faith. The Quran emphasizes the importance of gratitude, and the Noble Prophet Muhammad ﷺ exemplified it in his life. In this blog, we’ll explore the profound significance of gratitude in Islam and how it can positively impact our lives.

The Quranic Perspective
The Quran, the ultimate source of guidance for Muslims, is packed with verses emphasizing gratitude. One of the most well-known verses on this topic is found in Surah Ibrahim (Chapter 14), verse 7:

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ ۖ ٧
Translation

“And remember when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]”

This verse encapsulates the essence of gratitude in Islam. It serves as a reminder that being thankful to Allah Almighty for His blessings leads to an increase in those very blessings. Gratitude is a mean of attracting goodness into one’s life.

The Noble Prophet’s ﷺ Example
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the embodiment of gratitude. He taught us to say “Alhamdulillah” (Praise be to Allah) in all circumstances, whether in times of joy or adversity. His humility and constant gratitude towards Allah serve as a timeless example for Muslims. In a Hadith it’s mentioned

“‏ مَنْ لاَ يَشْكُرِ النَّاسَ لاَ يَشْكُرِ اللَّهَ”
– Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1954

Translation:

“Whoever is not grateful to the people, he is not grateful to Allah.”

Gratitude as an Act of Worship

In Islam, gratitude is considered an act of worship. By recognizing and thanking Allah for His blessing, A Muslim fulfills his spiritual duty. Each breath, each heartbeat, and every provision is a gift from the Creator, and acknowledging this fact through gratitude deepens one’s connection with Allah Almighty.

Gratitude in Action
Gratitude is not just about words; it’s about actions too. Islam encourages Muslims to use their blessings for the benefit of others. The concept of “صدقة” (charity) is closely tied to gratitude. When we share our blessings with those in need, we express our gratitude to Allah for what He has bestowed upon us.

The Ripple Effect of Gratitude

Gratitude doesn’t only benefit the individual; it has a ripple effect on society. When individuals are grateful, they are more likely to be compassionate, empathetic, and generous toward each other. This creates a more harmonious and caring community, which is a part of the teachings of Islam.

Conclusion
Gratitude is a cornerstone of Islamic faith and practice. It is a powerful tool for self-improvement, spiritual growth, and building stronger communities. By acknowledging Allah’s blessings and expressing gratitude in our words and actions, we not only better our own lives but also contribute to a more compassionate and harmonious society. So, let us embrace gratitude as a way of life and follow the beautiful example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in our journey toward self-improvement and spiritual fulfillment.
